Somali American Leaders and
Mediators
The Somali American Leaders and
Mediators (SALAM) program is a unique training program
shaped by Somali practices and Islamic teachings for Somali
youth (16-25).
Somali youth take a certified mediation training. Additionally they learn about and participate in restorative justice. The goal is for Somali youth to use these skills in their schools, workplaces and communities. Mediation and restorative justice skills empower communities to solve conflicts and restore relationships. This program is in partnership with Community Mediation & Restorative Services. The full mediation and restorative justice training will be five full days from April 30 - May 4 at Augsburg University. This training will be certified by the Minnesota Supreme Court. SALAM participants who complete all 30 hours will receive a stipend. Breakfast and lunch will be provided for this training as well.
